And if we set off?

Off the coast of the Croisette, across from the Bay of Cannes, lie the Islands of Lérins. The archipelago consists of two large main islands and small islands.

The Île Sainte-Marguerite, the largest and also the closest to the coast, is home to a beautiful pine and eucalyptus forest. It is overlooked by the Royal Fort, built by Richelieu and reinforced by Vauban. It is used as a prison and is now famous for having in its gaols, a prisoner as famous as the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask.

The Île Saint-Honorat, the farthest island, offers a rich historical heritage. It is home to a Cistercian Abbey dating back to the 5th century and to a famous vineyard providing wines and liquors at to the à l’Elysée Palace and to Matignon.

To get there:

Located at 15 minutes from Cannes, the Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat Islands are served all day long by excursion boats at regular intervals.
