Opéra de Lyon

And if we went to the opera?

The Opéra de Lyon is a neoclassical architectural style building, dating back to the 1830s. Initially, it was home to the Théâtre Chenavard et Pollet. Restored from 1989 by the architect Jean Nouvel, it is covered by a large glass roof and reunites most of the dance and opera ballet studios. The renovation, which has been well accepted by the Lyon residents, is an example of a successful contemporary restoration. The works carried out won the Opéra de Lyon in 1993 Moniteur’s Prix de l’Équerre d’Argent architecture award.

All year round, the Opéra National de Lyon offers opera and ballet performances, concerts and conferences.
