Saint-Pierre Cathedral in Montpellier

Visit the Saint-Pierre Cathedral in Montpellier!

Dating back to the 14th century, the Saint-Pierre Cathedral is located in Montpellier’s historical centre, Écusson. Designated as a Historical Monument in 1906, it is the most important Gothic monument of Languedoc-Roussillon and it is also the biggest church in Montpellier.

The two cylindrical pillars on the front side are now the only elements of the medieval period that can be observed. The Cathedral was completed in the 19th century, but many changes and restoration works have been carried out since its construction.

The Saint-Pierre Cathedral in Montpellier is known for having housed the relics of Saint-Germain, Saint-Benoît and Saint Baise. It also has a pipe organ dating back to 1778.
